The LFB RMA is a non-profit organisation and is run solely by volunteers. All of our LFB RMA volunteers (men and women) have either served in the London Fire Brigade or are spouses who have offered to continue with their support of the LFB RMA after the sad loss of a retired member The London Fire Brigade Retired Members Association was formed in 1930. Our aims are to maintain a contact between retired members of the London Fire Brigade and their former career To this aim, we organise reunions, trips and other events throughout the year where former colleagues can meet up with friends and acquaintances, who they may have lost touch with over the years. A regular magazine (Roundthreads) also allows members to make comments on their time in the brigade and read about the activities of the RMA We maintain close contacts with the LFB, The Welfare Fund and the Firefighters Charity and can act as an avenue of contact back to their former employers. The main advantage of the RMA is not the 1st or 2nd year of retirement but, as we all know, nothing stands still. Old friends retire, change stations or roles We can often re-connect people who have not seen each other for a number of years. Membership of the RMA is open to all retired operational London Firefighters, their widows or widowers and any other staff dealing with Fire and Emergency calls. Our membership subscription is £10 per year We are organised into branches that reflect the old ‘GLC’ A to J Divisional structure. Their is also a ladies branch and a branch which covers members in the counties and overseas. Membership of the branches is up to the member who may wish to join a branch that covers their old station or the place where they currently live If you feel that you would like to join the RMA, please contact the Membership Secretary via the contacts officers tab above We rely on donations to help subsidise this extremely valuable service. If you feel that you would like to make a donation (however small) to the LFB RMA this would be an extremely generous and valuable gesture if you would like to donate (please click here) There are other ways you can donate to the LFB RMA that won’t cost you anything at all, please see our easyfundraising page for more information These donations help us to provide that extra support for our retired members when it is needed most This site uses adobe reader, flash player & java script which are totally free to download and install-click an image below
