The LFB RMA is a non-profit organisation and is run solely by volunteers. All of our LFB RMA volunteers have either served in the London Fire Brigade or are spouses who have offered to continue with their support of the LFB RMA after the sad loss of a retired member.
The London Fire Brigade Retired Members Association was formed in 1930. Our aim is to maintain a contact between retired members of the LFB and their welfare in retirement.
We organise reunions, trips and other events throughout the year where former colleagues can meet up with friends and acquaintances. A 6-monthly magazine (Roundthreads) also allows members to make comments on their time in the brigade and read about the activities of the RMA and the LFB.
We maintain close contacts with the LFB, Welfare Fund and Firefighters Charity.
The Association can often re-connect people who have not seen each other for a number of years.
Membership of the RMA is open to all retired operational London Firefighters, their widows / widowers and other staff dealing with Fire and Emergency calls, serving members of the Brigade in their last 2 years of service, membership is £20 per year.
The Association is organised into branches that reflect the old ‘GLC’ A to J Divisional structure. There is also an overseas branch. Members can join a branch that covers their posting or the area where they live.
To join the RMA, please contact the Membership Secretary, Michael Rollings - lfbrma.memsec@gmail.com or complete the application form and post or email to the address on the form.
We rely on donations to help subsidise this extremely valuable service. If you feel that you would like to make a donation (however small) to the LFB RMA this would be an extremely generous and valuable gesture
if you would like to donate
There are other ways you can donate to the LFB RMA that won’t cost you anything at all, please see our easyfundraising page for more information.
These donations help us to provide that extra support for our retired members when it is needed most.
